Van Gogh, Pinting #2

This is my second assignment in painting class and my second painting. Our assignment is to recreate a painting from a french impressionist. I chose Van Gogh because i like the contrast in this painting. Unfortunately when i picked this i wasnt aware that Van Gogh paints by literally pouring the paint on to the canvas and working it out. His painting usually are usually about 3 inchs thick with paint. He had a rich brother that supported him and bought him his material.

When i started i wanted to put it on a large canvas too. I don't have a rich brother and so now im working on recreating the painting without spending a fortune on oils. I think in the end it will turn out great though even though it may be a little different as far as the texture of the painting goes.

I only got a couple of hours into it to, so there is still quite a bit of work in it left.

Painting #3 Queen Nefrititi

I'm really getting into painting. This is my 3rd painting and my first thats not an assignment. I thought of doing this in Art History and thought it would make a great painting. Its only got a couple of hours into it and im excitied to see how it turns out.

Getting started!

I wanted a place to display the stages of my projects and completed works!

The first project i have is a painting im doing of Queen Nefertiti. I also am working on recreating a painting by Van Gogh for my painting class.

Hope to have pics tomorrow so that i can document the progression of each.
